A homemade explosive device was found after a standoff at the home of a woman armed with an AK-47 style rifle and ballistic helmet and vest during a disturbance in Pasco, police say.

The incident unfolded Sunday night when officers responded to a report of the 48-year-old woman arguing with a neighbor while armed with the rifle near her home in the vicinity of West Court Street and Road 48.

A standoff ensued and a SWAT team was called in to respond. Streets were blocked off in the area as a precaution.

Police say the woman complied with officers fairly quickly. She was arrested and booked into the Franklin County jail for investigation of first-degree assault. Police later described the incident as a "mental health issue."
