On December 3, 2015 a Maryland State Trooper received an LPR alarm on US-40 indicating a stolen vehicle in connection with a carjacking and a series of commercial armed robberies. The trooper located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The occupants in the vehicle were identified, which a NCIC check revealed all were felons and prohibited from possessing firearms. One of the occupants had an active arrest warrant for 1st degree assault, armed robbery, felony crime with a firearm, and previous handgun charges. A thorough search of the vehicle revealed an unregistered, illegally modified shotgun with a barrel "sawed-off" below the minimum length of 18 inches. Following the arrest of all three suspects, detectives of Baltimore County police responded and took possession of the above mentioned weapon in connection with their outstanding investigations.
