A purported white supremacist and neo-Fascist group conducted a “banner drop" over the Clove Road overpass of the Staten Island Expressway, the group posted on Gab — a lightly-censored social media site.
Patriot Front — the organization allegedly responsible for the act — is ”a white supremacist group whose members maintain that their ancestors conquered America and bequeathed it solely to them," according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
The group was formed by disaffected members of another white supremacist group, Vanguard America, in September 2017, in the wake of the Unite the Right white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., the ADL said.
Patriot Front’s propaganda materials have been distributed across the country.
While the banner dropped over the Staten Island Expressway was anti-Communist, reading “Better Red than Dead” — a phrase using during the Cold War, several “unauthorized and offensive stickers” promoting the Patriot Front were recently placed at the Wagner College campus, the Advance previously reported.
